playing avi files in winamp?

hey all;
okay, for some reasin i herd that you are able to play avi files in winamp, but when i have downloaded say a torrent, and its avi, and i have tryed to play it, it hazzent worked.
any deas?

erm. can you be more specific? When you try to play it does some other program try to load, or does winamp load and just not do anything?

winamp usually loads and it doesnt do anything..

Then my thought is one of 2 things. If it does this with all avi files, then you're codec may be mesed up, and you may want to install a better one. I personally suggest the k-lite codec pack. IT has codecs for almost everything imaginable. If it just does that with that one avi file though or maybe just the ones from that torrent, my guess would be that the avi is corrupted.
